Leaving the UK we will travel via the channel Tunnel to Calais . The first stop on our tour will be the Todt Batterie and museum . This Museum is located inside on of the seven biggest bunkers ever built by the German army , Inside the bunker was installed a 380mm navel gun with a range of 42km . Inside we will discover many rooms containing high quality collections of weapons , artifacts and uniforms , also outside we will visit the 280mm German railroad gun . Our next stop of the day will be Ambleteuse WW2 museum . Here you will have the opportunity to watch the D Day landings presentation as well as view more than 120 completely equipped soldiers and thousands of WW2 artifacts . The museum displays range from The battle for Poland to Japans surrender . Our 3rd stop of the day will be the enormous La Coupole V2 rocket base . Here we will explore a fully preserved German rocket base . We will also learn about life under German occupation and how it effected the French way of life . Exhibits include V1 and V2 rockets , this is a truly amazing place to visit and a must for any trip . After stopping for a drink and some food if needed we will make our way to our final destination of the day Eperlecques Blockhaus . The Blockhaus is a gigantic bunker preserved as it was in 1945 and totally unique in Europe , witness first hand the destruction rained down on the site by the allied bombers , Walk through the various parts of the ruined buildings and witness the destruction caused by allied tallboy bombs . Here you will also find a 45m reconstruction of a V1 launch pad . Discover also how the Germans used forced labour in the construction of the site working the prisoners to death , those that survived construction where later sent to concentration camps . We will also see the unexploded (diffused) 1000lb bomb dropped on the site and exhibits and memorials throughout . After leaving the Blockhaus we will make our way back to Calais and make the return home . |
